Brakes to stop your car without breaks to your bank.

Brakes. Don't forget about brakes! Especially when you're young, dumb and broke, you're so concerned with how quick your car moves, nobody considers the true importance of stopping power.

In order to make your build worth it, it's probably in one's best interest to consider the kinds of brakes they're using. This is to assure that to go with that speed, you have the right parts to make your car, ya know... stop, so that you can keep investing money instead of watching your hard work turn into a pile of twisted metal.

While low prices are great, assurance in quality of brakes is super essential- more of a priority than many other parts. While it's great to use the trial and error method when working on cars, brakes are not something you really want to roll the dice on anticipating to... break (no pun intended).

Keeping that in mind, without further ado, here are some great brake brands that will brake your car, not break your bank.

Let's start this off with a brand called EBC. These ceramic brakes are low dust, signature and slotted. They offer all of the greatest racing features right down to red pads for that true race look. You can pick up a stage 4 kit for under 200 bucks- pure steal, really.

Next up is Power Stop. Power Stop offers complete kits designed with racing in mind. Pick up a set including red calipers, ceramic pads and awesome looking drilled and slotted rotors. The full set can run you as low as $300 from the right seller... definitely worth looking into for your budget ride goals.

Hawk is mostly known for their Sector racing rotors, but they offer full kits as well. Hawk Performance is known worldwide for developing friction materials that dominate on the track and withstand the wear and tear of the streets. A full set will run you less than 1/10 of the premier Brembos, so why not give 'em a shot at that rate.

Keep stopping power in mind! Especially when working on a high performance build, it is crucial that you put as much effort into your braking system as you do with turbos, manifolds, cams... you get the idea. Consider these brands to get that racing-quality stop at a grocery-getting price point.
