Try searching "for trade" to offer up your ride, not your cash.

In this edition of search terms, we're covering one of my favorites- "for trade."

Just as it sounds, when typing this in, results will return numerous listings of people not necessarily looking to make a profit off of their vehicle. Rather, they'd like an immediate replacement- which could just so happen to be your current car which you're looking to get rid of.

"For trade" searches return a list of people looking to exchange their current car with another person who owns something different that may better suit their needs.

When refining your search terms, you can cater your results to show trade offers that reflect exactly what you're looking for. You can select year ranges, mileage, classes, transmission-types and much, much more. By making your search terms as specific as possible, you can be sure to find a trade offer that you'd definitely consider pursuing.

As always, for a better grasp on what to expect, check out a few prime examples of the kinds of ads you should expect to see connected to this term:

Do you own a gas-guzzling Toyota truck that you just use to commute? Were you looking to save on gas? Maybe you no longer need your truck and would like a smaller car. Perhaps you were also thinking of getting a bike for when the highly anticipated summer weather finally arrives in Jersey. Well, if that's the case, then this overly-specific trade offer is for you! This guy is clearly looking for a Toyota truck, and he's willing to offer you not just his car, but his bike along with it to acquire a vehicle that suits his desires. If you're intrigued by this deal, check it out here.

Do you currently own a BMW coupe, but crave the feeling of racing down the highway with the wind blowing in your face in a drop top? Maybe this trade offer made your lucky day. This ad presents a fully-loaded '09 BMW 335i hardtop convertible. As enthusiasts, we crave to experience multiple examples of the cars we love. It seems safe to say that this is the case for our drop top owner here, who is looking to trade his 335i for another Bimmer or coupe. If this offer sounds up your alley, click here to view the ad.

Next time you're driving your car and the thought of swapping it for another ride goes through your mind, try refining your search using the "for trade" term and you never know, an ideal opportunity might be there waiting for you.
